This is accomplished by developing a person's understanding of the word of God through Bible study, worship, fellowship and encouraging participation in all of God's purposes for the church. Church school consists of various classes for children and youth (pre-K through 12th grade) and adult classes.

Tutorial Program

SJBC participates with the South Carolina First Steps Early Childhood Program. Students from the community are invited and encouraged to take advantage of free high skilled tutorial services. Students are tutored in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. This service is available to students within the church on an as-needed basis. The Tutor makes arrangements with the parent of the student(s). Volunteers are needed for this ministry.

In addition, the Tutorial Ministry volunteers as mentors and lunch buddies to the students at Watkins Nance Elementary School.
